Koh Rong island is located off the coast in the South of Cambodia. When travelling to Koh Rong it is important to book your ferry ticket to the LONG SET BEACH in the south of the island. The island itself has a size of roughly 80 square kilometers – roughly the size of Hong Kong – and there are only a few roads and barely any transportation by land available.
NOTE: If you have already booked your resort at Koh Rong island we may or we may not be able to arrange a pick up service for you, depending on where on the island you are located.
To get to Koh Rong island you will have to travel through the coastal town Sihanoukville as all ferries to the islands depart from one of its jetties. There are several different ferry companies operating in between Sihanoukville, Koh Rong and its sister island Koh Rong Sanloem and all of them arrive and depart at different times from different locations!
We would recommed to travel with Buva Sea Ferry as they have proved reliable and are stopping just at the jetty close to our dive center at the Long Set Beach. If you have not yet purchased your ticket to the island just click on the following link to make a reservation with Buva Sea Ferry online!
Airtravel & Land
Sihanoukville has got an airport with several international flights directly to Bangkok, Kuala
Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City and several other locations around Asia. You can also travel from Phnom Penh or Kampot to Koh Rong island by land within a few hours and when starting your trip early enough still be able to catch the late ferry to Koh Rong.
As Sihanoukville is not a very beautiful city we would highly recommend to travel to the island directly, remember though that the last ferry is departing around 4 p.m.!
